A time before the fall

Before the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the USA was arguably a different place – more open to strangers, and as yet still innocent. harefield was there in those last years before the destruction of the Twin Towers, travelling around the country, meeting people from all walks of life, and revelling in the vast landscape. 

This is a record of that time, full of anecdotes and humour, but with an underlying melancholy, both for what was lost in America, and the personal difficulties of a family spread across two continents. There are reflections on the history of the country, and the dispossessing of Native Americans, making A time before the fall a meditation on what has been lost, but also a joyous celebration of what remains.
